Portraits of Celina, Sue Whiting, Walker books, 10th anniversary edition. isbn 978 1760658151. Paperback.

I have been slow in reading and hence reviewing this book. With Christmas preparations and family visits, reading for pleasure and reviewing has taken a second place.

This book for readers from around 13 years of age concentrates on 16 year old Bayley and her struggle to keep her family together after the sudden death of their father.

Her mother has moved the family back to a run down home once lived in 40 years ago by another 16 year old, Celina O’Malley and her family.

Bayley knows that Celina disappeared when she was 16 but her family don’t talk about the details. It is not until Bayley becomes haunted by Celina’s ghost that all is slowly revealed.

First love comes unexpectedly for Bayley and instead of being uncomplicated Celina’s history threatens to spoil Bayley’s happiness.

I won’t share anything else but do encourage you to read this novel.
